Hospital Life™ is an active learning tool developed by NHS employees to explain how a hospital works by recreating the complexities and dynamics of patient flow and capacity management in a board game.
Hospital Life™ simulates the patient flow in a nine ward hospital during a typical day. Players are given specific roles and responsibilities and they must work together to solve a series of realistic challenges during the course of this imaginary day.
Hospital Life™ helps players to understand how better planning, communication and team work can improve the way that they work. It also gives players practical insights into how a hospital works. No previous experience of capacity management is needed to play Hospital Life.
The expected outcomes are a better informed workforce and improved operating efficiency.
